"No one said it would be easy. You know, when you're the best [sorting algorithm], everyone watches you, and they're watching for a show. So you gotta act up and give them what they want." - Bogarus, Professional Bogo Sorter, 2008

In a world where mathematicians choose "Quick Sort" or "Merge Sort" to organize their data, lesser sorting algorithms are left to collect dust. All, but one. The Bogo Sort.

The Super World Bogo Sort Title 20XX Championships, or SWBST20XXC, is a high octane tactical sport competition featuring the world's best bogo sorters duking it out to see who can sort an array the fastest. It might take an hour, a day, or even until the heat death of the universe, but the fame and glory one gets after bogosorting an array can't be matched. So will you rise up to the challenge and pit yourself against the greatest bogo sorters our world has ever seen?

"When I got asked to bogo sort, I didn't know what I was getting myself into, truthfully. I mean, what the hell is a bogo, right? But sooner or later I find myself waiting for my match to start. In the waiting room with me is another robot, who I assume to be my opponent. Naturally, conversation ensues." - Anonymous 1, Bogo Sorter, 2006

You might be thinking; Bogo Sorting is completely luck based, how can you make a competition like that? Well, you have a special toolkit to help you sort your array the fastest.

  • Health: At max health, you can gun out sorts like they're nothing! As you sort, your health goes down, but you can regain your health but correctly sorting.
    • You will lose more health when you scrap a partially sorted array, because there's nothing worse than getting your hopes up for a [0,1,2,3,4,5,7,6].
  • Spurge: Your "Spurge" is your ability to rapidly get through arrays. When your spurge is active, you'll be cranking out double the comparisons!

With these two tools, the competition will really be spiced up!

"He notices that I'm new, and we get talking. He confirms that I'm his opponent, and after learning that this guy is a regular (and a professional), I kinda crapped myself. Thus, we battle, and I lose. Not because of luck, but because of speed, strength, resistance, bursts, or specifically my lack of these traits. However, despite losing, I was instantly hooked to the fast-paced intense nature of the competition." - Anonymous 1, Bogo Sorter, 2006

Now, I should say, for your sake please don't play this game for dozens of hours trying to get the robots to sort a nine child array. As funny as it would be... actually, no. Go do it. I dare you. In fact, you'll get a reward if you do it.

Now, if you will, I will now subject you to more quotes from the characters in the game, as a cheap substitution for in-game lore.

"When you start bogo sorting, you don't just stop. That's a commitment you make for the rest of the career. You don't just go back to being an office worker or a firefighter or a waiter. Once a bogo sorter, forever a bogo sorter." - Bogealis, Professional Bogo Sorter, 2008

"Back in '94, I was unstoppable. I would walk down the street and see kids wearing shirts of me, or playing games like Bocci or Dodgeball with Red Gradient Balls on TV. It's surreal. You'd expect that to be some famous person, and it was, but when it's you it's not the same. Every t-shirt and ball set is a reminder of your persistence and skill." - B. Bogh Boglo, Former Bogo Sorter Champion and Bogo Sort Commentator, 2000

"One time I was in a One-Match Circuit, which is more of an endurance test than anything. An hour goes by, then two, then five, then a day. I think my highest was six consecutive arranged items. In the end, my opponent gave up before me, and now I'm a sporting legend." - Ogob Ogo, Professional OMC Bogo Sorter, 2004
